Boston 2013

So until late last year I had only ever wanted to go to Boston. The city just interested me and I wanted to see the sights. Last December Scott had a conference there so I met him for the weekend and we saw almost EVERYTHING. We take vacation very seriously and sightsee until there's nothing left to see.

This fall my friend Debbie moved out there for her husband to attend business school so I decided to visit. (Just some backstory: Deb and I met in college, went on missions at the same time and were roommates while we finished our degrees. After school she moved to DC but we stayed friends. She ended up marrying a guy who worked at Google and they ended up living in my ward here in Palo Alto. We both had babies at the same time and were sad to have them move.)

Jackson is a good little travel companion, especially when the seat next to us is open so he can sleep or wiggle.

We may have missed the cherry blossoms in DC this spring but I for sure hit the fall leaves in Boston!

In honor of going to Boston I decided to read 1776. (I finished it on the flight there!)

I had seen Bunker Hill on my previous trip but this time I went to Dorchester Heights.

The view was beautiful!! It made me think of the Country magazine my mom gets. Every fall there are tons of pictures of New England with pretty leaves. This picture of me and Jackson doesn't really do justice to the magazine.

If you look carefully you can see a couch on the rooftop.

Awesome.

Traveling with babies is very different than traveling with adults. You can't tell but at the moment the car smelled like a sewer thanks to full diapers.

We went to John Adams' summer home and had a great tour. 

Our babies were perfectly charming.

The grounds were beautiful.

One morning I spent walking around the Harvard School of Business and Harvard's main campus.
Again, the leaves were beautiful.

For lunch one day we had some delicious burgers.

Sadly the babies were tired and we left in such a rush that we forgot the tip.

If you ever go to Harvard eat lunch at Mr. Bartley's and leave an extra tip for us!

One afternoon we went to a cemetery. A bit morbid but the leaves were gorgeous.

Friday afternoon we wandered around downtown Boston.

The was the World Series and Boston was fully decorated.

Jackson & Lizzie did love playing together.

Jackson is 2 months younger but the same size with a much bigger head.

However, it was fun to see how much Jackson will learn in the next little while. He may be the same size as Lizzie but he's developmentally younger and doesn't crawl or play with his toys yet.

However, he loves to suck his toes AND fingers...

We had a great flight home but as we were taxying into the gate Jackson had a major blowout. The clothes were not salvageable and I was too done to waste my time changing him into anything more than a diaper. Needless to say we got mixed reactions: some judgmental, others sympathetic.

I thought it was hilarious.
