Bathtime

This post is more than a month behind but here's Jackson's first bath at home.
Scott did the honors.

Sweet Baby Jackson loved his bath!

And here's how bath time went last week when we were visiting my sister!
Rushton is stoked to have another cousin (and preparing for a baby brother to arrive in September!) so he really wanted to help with the bath. Jackson was overwhelmed with toys and love.
Thanks for the help Rushton!

Weird House

Can someone explain to me what's so awesome about this A-frame that they're lifting it up and building underneath? Sounds crazy to me!
(Sorry about the bad lighting. We found it on an evening walk.)

1st Swim

For those of you who didn't make it to the end of my Arizona post here's the main highlight:
Jackson's first "swim".
It was over 100F outside and everyone went for a swim. Before I left Scott wanted to dip Jackson in the water just a bit. He said the water was warm enough...

Perhaps it was warm enough for adults.

I went home with one angry baby!

1st day of work

Scott started at Apple on July 1 and is LOVING it.
Sadly, everything he does is a secret so there's not much to report.

Scott will often help Jackson in the morning while I get a bit more sleep.
We both need some space after the long nights we spend together... That little monster thinks he should stay awake after eating at 3am!

Arizona

So I've mentioned before that Scott had the month of June off: no school and no work. We were going a bit crazy being in the apartment all day, everyday so he thought maybe we should take a road trip to Arizona. Although I wanted to see my brother's family, I took a bit of convincing that we could travel that far with a newborn. Scott was considerate and we just made our way slowly down to Arizona for a few days of nonstop fun.

Jackson got to eat lunch at a arcade pizza place. He just hung out on the table and played with his cousin's loot. (Scott hopes that Jackson doesn't like those places since the facilities are dirty and food is bad. Kids are kids though and I'm sure he'll want to go.)

It was hot in the afternoon so Scott went outside with the kids. Everyone had a blast.

All of the kids loved to hold Jackson but they couldn't figure out why I couldn't get him to stop crying. They'd ask why he was always crying and I didn't have a satisfactory answer.

Thursday was swim lessons and Macey showed us around...

Jackson chose to sleep through it.

Here's the "group" shot. (Macey wouldn't come over.)
Caleb, Maren, Macey, Jenny, Parker

Macey is a little fearless fish in the water!

Parker

Caleb and Maren are in the same class.

Macey was an excellent help.

Maren and Macey made a fort one morning.
(It's quite the mess but they cleaned it up in less than 10 minutes after being asked only once!)

Scott helped the boys make rockets.

Friday afternoon we went to the pool. Jackson slept.

Maren

What kid doesn't love being tossed by their dad?

Jackson still asleep.

Scott decided to give Jackson a feel of the pool.

He was NOT impressed.

But why not dip his leg in again?

Candy and iPads.

Parker is becoming such a grown up. He likes to play games with the adults.

Launching the rockets.

"Houston, we have a problem."

Cousins!

Friday night we went on an adult + Jackson date. It was really fun. Thanks guys!

Cousin party.

I got a fabulous pedicure by Maren and Macey.

We drove back on Saturday when it was maximally hot.

This is how Jackson felt about being out of the carseat for good finally!

Thanks Bains. We had such an awesome time!

One Month Outtakes

In this post I put our final picture for Jackson's one month.
Here are a few of the outtakes (and a visual explanation of why you shouldn't take these at night when the baby is tired...)
Angry Baby.

And now he's tipping,

tipping more,

and more,

and almost fallen over,

and the giraffe is smashed.

Round Two.
Tipping a bit to the left so

we move him to the right.

A bit too much to the right!

And he's moving,

laughing (so cute!),

(can you handle this cuteness?!?),

tipping more,

and the giraffe prevents further decent.

Can you see his spit-up spots?
