Google Shopping Express

If you regularly read my blog you already know we're kinda lame. If you're new to my blog here's proof:
We were able to get on the trial for Google Shopping Express and wanted to document our first package. Even more lame than the documentation though is what was inside: diapers!

Settling in at home.

Just a word of warning: I'm going to be one of those people who used to blog about other things and now only talks about their kid. Have some mercy on me though, part of the reason will be because I'm going to be at home with him all day now and my world is run by him. Pray that I can maintain my sanity. I love this little guy but it sure is a different life I'm about to lead!

Here's a small selection of the photos I've taken. I'm thinking this kid will be well documented!

Just home from the hospital.

Tummy time. (The doctor said to do it morning and evening since it's his exercise and he'd be more sleepy at night if he did it. Anything that creates sleep sounds good to me!)

More tummy time.

He thinks the recliner we bought belongs to him.

Does he not look a little silly but a lot cute?

Post bath calm. He really does love the bath.

Bedtime! My coworker made the knitted blanket and it provides the perfect amount of warmth for him to sleep well. Thanks Donna!

Commencement 2013!

I had commencement last Sunday and received my PhD diploma! I am officially done. Thanks so much to all for the love and support over the past five years. Here are a few pictures of the day.

For a PhD, your advisor hoods you. Here are a few pictures of Prof. Roger Howe doing that.

This is the chair of the electrical engineering department handing me my diploma.

All of the Lees came out to support me!

Jackson William Lee

On Wednesday, June 5 at 7:50am Jackson William Lee was born!!
My water broke that morning at 1:15am. We got to the hospital at 2:15. I had to wait until 3:45 for my epidural; once it kicked in I was a very happy girl! I started pushing at 7:25 and he came at 7:50! (That skips the nitty gritty but if you want more details you are welcome to ask. Just wanted to keep it clean for the public blog!)

Just after birth.

First father-son moment.

I couldn't use the flash so it's really dark but look how tired these boys are!

First family picture. (I know you're supposed to take one right after in all the post-birth glory but we forgot. Starting this party at 1am was a bit early for Scott and I.)

Different pose.

And this is what we frequently see now.
Luckily we still think he's cute.

Oh yeah, for those who are wondering about the name. We just like Jackson so it has no family ties but William is Scott's first name and my dad's middle name so we were able to get both families in one try!

Maker Faire 2013

We go every year and have a great time. This year we were quite the group of invalids:
2 pregnant ladies (me & Melissa), 1 recovering surgery patient (Scott), 1 old man with joints recently shot up with cortisone (my dad) and 1 lady who decided to be a chauffeur since walking has become difficult (my mom). Add 2 toddlers to that mix and it was quite the afternoon!

Rushton loved the robots.

What kid doesn't want to play on the Lego Jeep?

Dr. William Scott Lee

Booyah!

Because we had nothing better to do

Scott had wrist surgery!
He's had a ganglion cyst on his wrist for years; it seems to act up and then retreat. 2.5 years ago he saw a surgeon I work with but decided not to have surgery. Lately (probably due to increased time spent on the computer writing his thesis) the cyst has become painful again so when the thesis was almost complete he mentioned the possibility of having surgery before starting work. At that point I was 36 weeks pregnant so I told him he had 5 days to have the surgery or it would be too late. He saw the surgeon on Monday afternoon and was home from surgery before lunch on Tuesday! We had it done at my work and it was fun to see everyone again. I think I look a lot bigger in regular clothes than in scrubs so they were surprised at how much I had grown!
This is the only picture I have of surgery day. Scott needed to keep his arm elevated but insisted on doing it in the most annoying way possible... We now look like quite the duo: Scott with his wrist splinted and me hugely pregnant!

By the way: today is my due date and I'm still pregnant...
