And now we're 31...

We had our birthdays about a month ago and they were less than fantastic. Scott and Jackson were sick, like really sick. I guess it's just as well that I'm not super into celebrations because otherwise this would have been a downright depressing year.
However! We still got to go to Newsies and it was great. (We had tickets for the birthday weekend but were able to switch with my sister. It was fate.)

I loved the musical but love the movie even more.
I'm not sure why they had to change the words to the songs if they didn't change the meaning. It made it hard to sing along in my head. I'm glad we went though, it was super fun.

And afterwards we had delicious burgers at Pearl's.
That place never disappoints.

Baby Boy #2

I finally took pictures of the ultrasound pictures and thought I'd throw them up here.
I was going to not post the middle picture (evidence of his gender) but since I put one up of Jackson I may as well treat the next baby the same! I think he looks a lot like Jackson did (huge surprise, I know) so if you want to compare here's the link to Jackson's pics.

We're excited for another little boy to come! Jackson loves babies so it will be fun to see how he reacts to a baby that doesn't belong to someone else. He's really into helping these days so hopefully that will be more help than hassle. This pregnancy has been basically the same but a little harder. Perhaps I won't be having 12 children...

Sickie

A few weeks ago poor Jackson got really sick. He woke up from his nap with a high fever and was so sad. He only wanted to sit in my mom's lap and look outside. When I finally got there (I had worked that day) I decided to take him to urgent care since his fever was so high.

Natually, they rushed to help us so we only waited 2 hours for our 3 minute consult...
For a while he complained and then just laid lethargically on the gurney.

He even fell asleep in my arms. It's been a long time since that happened.
Finally the doctor came in and did a quick exam (that I feel was fairly crappy) and told me he'd be better within a few days.

She lied.
A few days later we were still enjoying this behavior.

He also essentially refused to eat so we tried to load him up on juice and popsicles.
Finally after a week of post-nap fevers and all afternoon grumpiness I went to his pediatrician and she said he had bronchitis and gave him an inhaler and antibiotics. Seriously, I love that lady.

He's all better now and back to eating us out of house and home.

National Pancake Day

Thank you IHOP for hosting National Pancake Day.
As fat Americans this is probably a holiday that should be revoked but until then I will happily come and accept a free breakfast with as many unruly children as I can find.

Jackson is a little too small (and wiggly) to be a big kid.
Asher wasn't very amused.

This is perhaps the last time Jackson ever wore a bib.
He now refuses and I have bigger battles to wage most of the time.

Searching for snow in Utah

So like I said earlier, we went to Utah the weekend after Tahoe.
In booking both of these trips we hoped for snow but as the time came nearer our prospects dimmed. Luckily we found the hill in Tahoe and then it snowed lightly one morning while in Utah. The snow was gone before lunch but that was good enough for our California blood!

Scott helped Jackson make a huge snowball.

Seriously, this kid is so cute!

After plenty of fun in the snow we met Scott's sister's family for a trampoline park.
I was nervous about broken bones but they had a toddler area and it was perfect.

We got a nice 4 generation picture.

Due to an overbooked flight Jackson and I stayed an extra day.
We got to go to Wheeler Farm and Jackson loved the animals, especially the barn cat.

We had lots of good times in Utah and will make it back out there eventually. Thanks!

Future engineer

We have a third bedroom that is full of junk and storage. If ever Jackson gets in there I can usually find him plugging in our sous vide thing. He pulls the crockpot out and then just parks it there.

Searching for snow in Tahoe

Scott got home from 2 weeks in China on Friday and we headed out early Saturday for Tahoe.

Jackson was (kinda) a champ for the ride but we did need to take a walk before getting there.

We met another family up in Tahoe and the kids had a blast.
Hank is 6 months older than Jackson and just as cute.

Lyla was a great big sister to Jackson.
Hopefully he took some notes about being an older sibling...

We went there with the hopes (but realistic expectations) of finding snow for sledding.
We did find 1 "snowy" hill.

Jackson got to go down quite a few times and usually loved it.
Of course the one time I walked away Scott caught a bump and it scared Jackson.
I thought that was the end of Jackson but when Scott started back up the hill alone Jackson jumped out of my lap and chased after him.

Quite literally, only a portion of the hill had snow.
It actually made for great spectating since I wasn't that cold on the sidelines.
(I did go sledding but it's not that fun to sled on ice
with a baby in my belly and another in my lap.)

We had a great time with the Tillmans!

Can you tell there was snow?

Jackson had quite the cozy afternoon in Ellen's lap.
He just plopped down there and watched the other kids play Nintendo.

Scott did some extracurricular reading.

Lyla was so cute and loved helping Jackson.
She really wanted them to both drink at the same time and it took quite a bit of convincing!

After sledding we spent the afternoon at the "beach".
There was a park nearby and no one ended up in the water so I'd say it was a success.

It ended up being a whirlwind month of Feb since Scott was gone the first two weeks,
we went to Tahoe President's weekend, and then Utah the next!

Because he can...

This is now Jackson's preferred method for riding in the stroller. I don't mind a ton but when we cross streets there's a lot of resistance to being strapped in properly. I guess Jackson is subconsciously making room for a little brother.

Rainy weekend

It rained in mid-Feb and since Scott had already been gone for a week and Jackson was driving me crazy I drove over to my parent's for some puddle jumping. Jackson was THRILLED to be outside and allowed to get as wet as he wanted. He's at such a cute (and aggravating) age; I love it!
